Born and raised in Dalbeattie, Scotland in the heart of Robbie Burns country, I am a third generation piper.  At 18 years old I was fortunate enough to take lessons from Pipe Major James Fraser of the Gordon Highlanders. I then competed as a piper in the Royal Canadian Engineers Militia, and BR.10 Canadian Legion where I was Pipe Major there for 3 years.  I moved up to the 400 Squadron Royal Canadian Air Force, Grade 2 competition band.  Finally,  I competed with the Toronto Police Grade 2 Pipe Band from 1968 to 1988, and was the Senior Pipe Sergeant for 8 years.

I have piped for the Royal Family, dignitaries and politicians including  Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Ronald Reagan - and for celebrities including John Wayne and "Hot Lips Houlihan".

I now live in Orlando, Florida near Disney and travel throughout Central Florida to perform.
